Punjab is set to attract tourists with its new Destination Place the Ranjit Sagar Lake as a global tourist spot in Pathankot. The decision will not just benefit the state itself but the surrounding areas are also going to see the impact in revenue.
The Punjab government conducted an investor summit where it extended the invitations to private organizations too. Other tourist destinations were also discussed during the summit.
As per the report, Anirudh Tewari said that the destination will be developed with a state-of-the-art facility in the Public-Private partnership model. The state government has received environment clearance and stage-1 forest clearance for the project.
With 74.76 acres of huge land surrounded by greenery and hills, it has the potential to become one of the emerging top destinations of India and the state. The surrounding areas like Dharamshala, Shimla, Vaishno Devi, Chamba, etc might also see a surge in tourist arrivals due to this project.
“Punjab has a rich and diverse natural landscape. With this new project, a lot of citizens will check out the site and appreciate the conservation of natural resources. “ – said Tewari

Also, the Punjab Chief Minister has reviewed the project and directed to identify and initiate other tourist destinations in the state.
Principal Secretary of Tourism and Cultural Affairs Tejveer Singh said the vision of the state government is to develop ecologically sensitive tourist destinations by actively supporting “responsible tourism”.
