Indians to Get Visa on Arrival in Malaysia from June 1

There is good news for those planning a trip to Malaysia. Reportedly, Malaysia has announced Visa on Arrival (VOA) for Indian travelers arriving in the country through selected entry points, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia or Brunei with a valid visa from any country. This updated rule will be implemented from June 1, 2022.

Elaborating on this, Malaysia’s Department of Immigration (Mumbai Attached), the VOA fee will be MYR 200 (USD 46), and travelers must show proof that they have at least USD 500 cash/debit card/credit card/ Traveler’s check or any electronic money, certified by the Central Bank of Malaysia. Passengers with a confirmed return air ticket will be able to stay for 15 days.

If you need to apply for a visa, you can now apply for it online. As per reports, more than 18000 seats are offered weekly between India and Malaysia via Airlines, Indigo, Malindo Air, AirAsia, and Air India Express.

As reported earlier, Malaysia has opened its doors to fully immunization and quarantine-free travel from May 1, 2022. Thus, fully vaccinated inbound passengers are no longer required to undergo pre-departure and on-arrival COVID-19 tests, which include children aged 17 years and below.

It is being speculated that the easing of COVID-related restrictions and VOA will make travel to the country more hassle-free for Indians, which is likely to boost tourism activity in Malaysia in the coming days.
